Ralph Burton
Ralph Wallace Burton (1905–1983) was an Ottawa Valley painter best known as a student and painting companion of A.Y. Jackson. Trained in Ottawa and at the Banff School of Fine Arts, he developed a vigorous style marked by rhythmic brushwork and luminous colour. His oils on birch panels captured both rugged Canadian landscapes and resilient man-made structures, particularly in Eastern Ontario and Quebec. Burton’s work is held in public, private, and corporate collections.
